Where's Garci Now?

Little did I think that that July 7th interview with ex-COMELEC Commissioner Virgilio Garcillano would be his last, or at least, so far his last.

Garci went out of what would be his last COMELEC en banc session. He didn't want to be interviewed but we persisted (it was the day after Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye came out with the CDs). Later on, he obliged to an interview.

I remember he was very categorical in his statements. "Was that your voice on the phone?"
With a straight face, he said "no." "Even a radio commentator told me, it didn't sound like me," he elaborated.

I rephrased my question: "Did you have any conversation like that with the President at all?" (the bait was out and obvious, but still I was hopeful). Because, surely, conversations of that importance or that degree would be remembered. Again, he said "none."

"Did the President ever call you?" I asked, once again.

"No," he answered.

I would not have known, at that time, the relevance that interview would have. In hindsight, I think without that categorical denial, things would have been a little different. The "I AM SORRY" speech would have been written another way.

But will there be less questions?
