Solitude

Today, I was at the book launch of former Sen. Jovito Salonga "The Task of Building a Better Nation."

We were hoping to get a couple of soundbites from him regarding recent events in the country but after his speech, he begged off saying he could barely speak.

So we acceded to his request.

Anyway, during his speech, he quoted a writer who said something about the difference of loneliness and solitude.

To paraphrase: "English is a clever language, it created the term 'loneliness' to describe the pain of being along. But it also has the term 'solitude' to mean the glory of being alone without being lonely."

Ahh, such wisdom.
